Satisfaction is the feeling of having done something and knowing that we could not have done it better.
Of course, in the same circumstances and with the same information as we had at that time.
Am I satisfied with my career choices right now? Yes. Could I have done it better? Yes. But not if I am in the same situation again with the same thoughts and advice.
In other words, the more permutations and combinations you have in your head, the less satisfied you are going to be. Don't you think?

Agreed 100%.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteYep very true, can always do it better if you know, but you don't so have to give it a go
ReplyDeleteYes.
DeleteI think someday I am going to learn to think in a chorus like you.
Amen.
ReplyDeleteIndeed.
DeleteBut it wouldn't be as fun to complete something if we already knew what the outcome would be, would it?
ReplyDeleteI am not sure. If we all knew what the outcome of something was going to be, it would be good once or twice. After that, things would get boring.
DeleteWell, I feel it depends on how one analyze themselves in every condition. If you start analyzing the things you did were the right or wrong or could have been done more better then I guess you won't reach to that satisfaction level which you get when you don't analyze.
ReplyDeleteAm I making sense here ? (asking you because I am not analyzing my above statement what I just wrote :p)
You are making sense. That is for sure.
DeleteIf we think that more analysis is a mark of an intelligent mind, and that satisfaction and happiness are related, then we can point to the widespread belief that dumb people are happier. Or as the saying goes, ignorance is bliss. But we must keep in mind, this is just some random analysis on (y)our part. Not a research or something.
well, that makes sense more often that not, but...
ReplyDeleteThis sense suits us in most situations. Mostly it is just about not thinking too much into the past.
DeleteI feel very satisfied when I do my homework before the deadline! For example, if I have a job for Friday I've been doing it on Monday and I feel good :D
ReplyDeleteI should have thought of that. I thought of satisfaction in terms of the 'past', and you have given another dimension to it. Mary's comment makes even more sense now.
DeleteSatisfaction is certainly how you have defined it.. but knowing that you could have done better probably with the same situation and with the same thought process and same advice keeps you on the roll and one starts to thrive to push the limits a bit more to do the better the next time, satisfaction gives pleasure, indeed.! yet kills the desperation for improve the scope of a better performance..
ReplyDeleteI don't think perfection kills desperation for betterness. It gives hindsight and better experience for the future.
